Titans stun Patriots

On January 4, 2020 The New England Patriots faced off against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC wild card game. The game took place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The winner of this game would determine which team plays the Super Bowl favorites the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional round.

The game remained close throughout the first quarter. The Titans came out of the first quarter with a seven to three lead, with tight end Anthony Firsker scoring the first touchdown of the game. Throughout the second quarter the game remained very close after a touchdown from each of the team’s star offensive players Julain Edlemen and Derrick Henry.

The third quarter was quiet for both teams as neither of them scored, which meant the Titans were going into the fourth quarter with a one point lead. No team scored throughout the entire fourth quarter. With only about twenty seconds remaining in the game, Titans punter Brett Kern was getting ready to punt the football with Julian Edeleman ready to return.

Brett Kern’s punt ended up at the one yard line with about twelve seconds remaining. The Patriots still had a chance to get lucky with arguably the best football player of all time, Tom Brady, on their side. As the play began fans were on edge, but former Patriot Logan Ryan stepped up for the Titans intercepting his former teammates pass with nine seconds remaining, and ran into the end zone for a touchdown. This was a very big game for Titans running back, Derrick Henry, not only did he rush for 184 yards and a touchdown it was his birthday.

Freshman Kenneth Johnson said, “I expected the Titans to win this game because Derrick Henry is one of the best running backs in the league, and he is a huge factor to their success.”

For the first time in Tom Brady’s twenty one year career with the Patriots, he is a free agent. Many people speculate Brady to leave the Patriots after he and his wife Gisele Bundechen listed their house in Brookline, Massachustes for thirty five and a half million dollars. Many people speculate Tom Brady will go to the Los Angeles Chargers or the Indianapolis Colts.

Freshman Alex Kefauver said he expects Tom Brady “To stay with the Patriots for the rest of his career, and there is a chance he could win another Super Bowl.”

Phillip Wood, a freshman thoughts are a little different, he said, “Tom Brady will end up with the Chargers, because today we see a lot of athletes go to Los Angeles after long careers with their team.”

Brady has the choice to join a new team after a decorated career with the Patriots, or stay with the team that took the chance on him with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.
