Suburban has a rich history of success. Greatness has been found all over the program, especially on the wrestling mat. This year, a group of new and young wrestlers entered the high school scene and caught it by storm.

Freshmen Dequese Dillon, Noah Rice, Jamal Lewis, Zach Emory and Bryson Nedigh all played pivotal factors in Suburban´s success this season; they finished  15-9. When interviewing them about their individual success as well as the success of the team, they had some pretty interesting things to say.

Zach Emory was the first wrestler that was interviewed. According to Emory, the key to his success was pretty simple. ¨my success came from really working hard and drilling with high intensity in the practice room¨. Emory had a record of 25-7. So,you could say his hard work paid off. Zach also stated that his favorite thing is being in this bond of young talent.

¨We are all like family, and we help each other on and off the mat. These kids are a great group to be around¨. Zach also mentioned that he would like to wrestle at the next level. ¨I would like to wrestle in college, and I want to wrestle for North Carolina State.¨ Zach, along with the other core, are well on their way to possibly competing at the college level.

Rice, another notable freshman talent, was also interviewed. When asked about his success, he touched on how he started at a young age and how his father really helped him become a ¨gym rat¨. He mentioned that offseason work was a big factor in his dominance during the season. ¨I feel many things added up to my success. Number one was because I started at a very young age which was 4, so I have much experience in the sport. And also, just like any other sport, doing extra during the offseason is where you make up the ground to get better¨. He, like Emory, wants to wrestle for a Division 1 school after his four years in the Suburban program. ¨I definitely want to wrestle in college. So far, I have been very interested in going to Lehigh University.¨

All of the young core on the wrestling program have such a promising future. With their attitude towards one another, their success individually, and their success as a team, they will be a force to be reckoned with in their division.
