With York Suburban High School reaching its second semester, the seniors’ high school career is quickly coming to an end. Seniors have already experienced their last first day of school, Homecoming, Friday night football games, Snowco and more.

One by one, our seniors are gradually taking steps toward a new journey. College essays are being written, acceptance letters are being opened, and jobs are being applied for as graduation sneaks up only being 4 months away. Some may see this as a sad period of time, but others are excited about the future and what is to come.

The seniors’ after high school plans vary from the workforce, Military, Navy, Army, and college or university. Many of our seniors are planning to attend college, with 30 students committed to a university which is display the “Senior Destinations” board located beside the guidance office. Our seniors’ destinations range from here in York all the way to California. Some of the universities students have been accepted into include York College, Clarion, West Virginia, Lynn University, Cornell, University of Wyoming, and Stanford.

Seniors Elise Mears, Cedric Walker, Ryan Myers, and Andrew Paskey to share what seniors plan on doing after high school. A topic among many of them includes attending college. Most of them have a definite college in mind. However, there are some like Cedric Walker, who are still undecided about where they want to go. Selected majors varied from fashion merchandising, sports statistics, journalism, and more. Andrew Paskey chose business administration because he liked “the flexibility behind it and how general it is.”

Seniors’ goals include to have fun this summer, get internships, and be successful. With college being a whole new slate most of the seniors are looking forward to meeting new people, getting a fresh start, and for Cedric walker “playing basketball”.  The last 4 years of being at York Suburban have taught our seniors to be “independent”, “how to react in life situations”, “not joke around with assignments”, and “how to work with other people” all of which they will be able to use in their bright futures.

Ultimately with the year quickly passing by the most common theme among the seniors about high schoo is that they will miss the people, friends, and staff that surrounded them every day in the halls of York Suburban.
