Suburban thespians spring into production

by Drue Allison

The York Suburban Theater club will be putting on a production of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. This is the humorous story of people adopting alternate selves in order to escape social obligations.

The play opens tonight at 7:30 and will play on April 28 and 29 as well at the same time. Tickets are $6 for students and $10 for adults.

First performed in 1895, The Importance of Being Earnest had only been shown 86 times before being closed due to the exile of Wilde. There has been various film adaptations including ones in 1952, 1992, and 2002.

Stephanie Burchett, a sophomore and part of the crew said one of the surprises is, “A family love triangle. The story of it revolves around this family.” Burchett has also worked on the earlier production of And Then There Were None.

Go see the production this weekend to have an enjoyable experience.
