YS boys’ LAX tops the charts

The boys’ lacrosse team began their season with many successful wins and a close loss against Central. Also, YS Boys’ lax players have been named the top in the state in various categories, competing with hundreds of other players, over the last couple weeks.

Junior captain and goalie, Blake Wallace stands at second in the state for his save percentage with over 63% of saves made, topping the national average of 35%. Blake Wallace is also ranked in the Goals Against category, placing fourth.

York Suburban’s freshman Dominic Corto currently sits at first place for assists in the state, and fourth for total points scored. Austin Sipes (22nd), Riley Purcell (35th), and John Geary (39th) are also ranked for points scored. Junior Bryce Gavin, is ranked in fifth place in the state for ground balls and is also ranked for assists. Austin Sipes (30th), Justin Shocker (31st), and Evan LeCates (40th) are also ranked in the Ground Balls category.

Wallace says that “the preseason work is really paying off for the team” and that he is proud of his team and the work they are putting in. He hopes to stay ranked for Save Percentage and Goals Against Categories and hopes to see other YS Players lead the state. Wallace is excited for what’s to come as they face difficult competition in the near future and how they improve as a team.

York Suburban is very proud of their boys’ lacrosse team and state rank holders. The boys’ have two games coming up, April 11 against Delone Catholic and April 13 against Dover.
