Trump offers myriad benefits

by Grayson Smith

The Trump administration has had its taste of media backlash throughout the past several weeks. So let’s go on the road less traveled and discuss the benefits that a President Trump could have on the wellbeing of America.

Let’s first start out on the financial state of the union. There is no argument for Trump’s success in business as he is worth a current total of somewhere between 4.5 billion and 10 billion dollars. The question the people of America have to be asking themselves now is whether or not he can create prosperity in the states like he has in his own business life.

Then comes the views the President has on the state of health care. With health care appearing to be the number one item on Trump’s agenda, the GOP is already beginning the process of rolling back on the Affordable Care Act. Trump suggests a seven point plan for health care in America, including the repeal/reformation of Obamacare, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and the block-grant Medicaid to other states, etc.

Several of Trump’s advisers have commented on the subject saying, “You get rid of the lines, it brings in competition, so instead of having one insurance company taking care of New York, or Texas, you’ll have many. They’ll compete, and it’ll be a beautiful thing.” Based on a pre-Obamacare baseline, several researchers devised a system that would result in seven million more people being insured by opening up the insurance markets to an increased amount of competition.

President Donald Trump has also suggested imposing tariffs on imported goods including a 35% tax on auto manufacturers stationed in Mexico. Although this imposition may break the NAFTA agreement between Mexico and maybe eventually Canada, it is also a campaign promise of the Trump Administration. Many on their delegation would agree that it encourages business to leave the states for cheaper labor and ship the product over for little or no import tax thus increasing their profit.

So who knows, will the next four years be like many predicted and having everything go downhill? Or will the new President step up and pull this country into a greater state of prosperity for a continued eight years? Only time and the patience of the people will decide which direction this country will go in the following years.
