Dinner party dishes up drama in And Then There Were None

York Suburban’s Drama Club will begin its production season in the upcoming weeks.

Currently, Drama Club is preparing the stage, hopeful actors and crew for the Fall production, And Then There Were None. Careful not to reveal too much, Drama Club director Shannon Metzler said, “It is a murder mystery. I will say though, ten strangers find themselves on an island presumably at a dinner party and one by one they mysteriously begin to die. The irony is that they die in the same fashion as the characters in a poem called “Ten Little Indians” die. It is gruesome and it’s entertaining.” The play will be on November 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30.

Metzler is proud to say that this year’s club is a variety of students. Metzler said, “The junior class [of drama club members] is a larger group of veterans. To my knowledge we have 3 seniors. We have a lot of interested freshman. It’s advantageous for us as a group to be heavy on the younger side because that is something that is going to grow.”

Metzler said the number of freshman is good because the club will not have to say “goodbye to so many veterans at the end of the year.”

After last year’s play season, she feels that this year’s season will be even better. Metzler said, “I am so excited. This being my second year, I know Mrs. Krzanowski and myself know what we want to do as far as where we want to take the group and just continuing the balance of helping you all learn the balance of professionalism as well as having as having an awesome time because you put on something that is incredible.”

Some new additions have added to this year’s club, such as different workshops. Metzler said, “Last year we built the plane as we flew it. Workshops, like student directing, will be something new that students can pitch to us. This year we began with two workshops that we felt were necessary: How to Audition and What Are The Parts of the Stage.”

Drama Club will offer workshops throughout the year in hopes of keeping the club close and giving other students a chance to join. Metzler would like to remind everybody that the club is open to any activities anyone has to share.
