The tenth annual Communities That Care dodgeball tournament will be held on Thursday March 3 at 7 pm. This is a one day tournament that features teams of eight.

The prize for this competition is to hold the title as the winner and the bragging rights that come with it. Same as most years, Daniel VanHouwe and Scott Payne will be making the calls as referees on the night of March 3.

Each team is guaranteed to play at least three games in this round-robin set up. The lucky few who beat out their opponents will advance to the championship. This year, the championship will be single-elimination in an effort to keep things fair to every team.

The CTC dodgeball tournament will stay the same with a few alterations. The tournament has traditionally been help on a friday or saturday evening, this year due to scheduling conflicts and the will to make things different, the tournament has been scheduled on a thursday evening.

Additionally, the intermission entertainment will be removed.

“In the past, we have had brief intermission entertainment.  In an effort to keep the momentum of the tournament going, especially on a weeknight, we will have a very brief break and then move directly into the championship playoff,” said a CTC High School Board advisor Leslie Platts.

Though the proceeds to do go to a particular cause, the CTC Dodgeball tournament is a valuable asset to the community.

“Whether it is in a coordinating role, working the event or concessions, playing on a team, or as a spectator, this event engages students and community members by providing constructive entertainment and bolstering school spirit,” said Platts.

“I am looking forward to seeing all of the crazy names that the teams come up with and attempting to better my dodgeball skills,” said senior Bailey Cross.

“I am looking forward to winning another championship,” said senior Collin Mailman.

Leslie Platts and the rest of the CTC High School Board members highly encourage students to sign up and make this a great event. Registration packets can be found in the office.
