There’s no doubt that high school students spend their free time at the movie theaters. Alex Markels, a writer for the New York Times, states that teenagers have aided the revival of the modern-day cinema.

In the upcoming holiday months, an astonishing number of movies will be making their way into the box office.

Director Peter Sohn and producer Meg LeFauve have created a Disney Pixar animation called The Good Dinosaur. IMDb says it is “An epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.” The film is not yet rated and is expected to come out November 25th, 2015.

Screenwriter and director M. Night Shyamalan concocted the newest craze in the horror department: The Visit. The film came out on September 11th, 2015. IMDb provides the summary: “A single mother finds that things in her family’s life go very wrong after her two young children visit their grandparents.” The Visit is rated PG-13 and is screening at most local cinemas.

Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson make yet another debut in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The movies are based off of the series written by Suzanne Collins. IMDb says that “After being symbolized as the “Mockingjay”, Katniss Everdeen and District 13 engage in an all-out revolution against the autocratic Capitol.” The film is directed by Francis Lawrence and is rated PG-13. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will make its way into movie theatres on November 20th, 2015.

The Star Wars franchise continues with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens directed by J.J. Abrams. IMDb states that it is “A continuation of the saga created by George Lucas set thirty years after Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983).” The movie is not yet rated and should hit the big screen on December 18th, 2015.

Students at York Suburban are anticipating the upcoming cinematic features. Sophomore Jessica Deiter said, “I am most excited to see The Visit because I enjoy watching horror movies and this film looks unpredictable and thrilling. I do not want to see Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens because they are confusing, boring, and there are too many to keep up with.”
