Have child stars gone too far? For example, one of the most commonly judged child stars is Miley Cyrus. Has she gone too far in order to stay in the limelight? Personally, I believe she has not. Lately, there has been debates on peoples’ emotions towards Miley Cyrus, who once was a beloved child star. Miley has gained both a large group of supporters, and a large group of people who hate who she has become. Miley has simply grown up, she is no longer a child or a Disney star.

The kids who idolized Miley have grown up along with her. Children now should most definitely not be looking up to her. Miley is twenty years old and is going through extreme changes; she was a pop country singer who is now dabbling in rapping. There may be a vast difference between who she was and who she is becoming, but she is doing what she loves, so who are we to judge?

One thing I do not understand is why people judge Miley for her appearances. Yes, she has videos half naked and her clothes are risque, but how many other stars do the same thing? Almost every single star has pictures and videos just like Miley. So why is Miley the one being judged so harshly? Flashy photos of other female stars have been categorized as classy, yet Miley is called trashy.

I think that Miley is being judged too harshly. She’s growing up and experimenting. People her age all over the globe do the same things, go through the same changes. Just because Miley is a star doesn’t mean that we should reserve the right to judge her any differently. No, Miley should not be an icon to young children. It is true that children should not see some of the things that she does, but isn’t it like that with every star, every show, every movie, every song? There are always certain things that we shield from children.

Miley has not gone over the edge or done anything destructive. She is only trying to be herself, she is trying to break free from her teen pop identity because that is not who she is anymore. Many other stars have taken it further, like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. They went beyond extreme, Miley, however, has not.
