Boy’s Volleyball Tries for Another Good Year

The boys’ volleyball team starts in March and the excitement is rising. This year’s team has a lot to live up to, though, when compared to last year. Although York Suburban currently has a strong team, last year’s group was one for the record book.

All this excitement and expectation for success this season is because of this record from last year because it was the best season in school history. Senior Brad Hartshorne, a long time member of the volleyball team, said, “last year was the best in school history as we were country and district champs and state runner ups.” The volleyball season takes a long time, and an individual must be committed to it.

This season starts March fourth and goes until late May or longer, depending on how well the team does. If this year is anything like the last, the team will be having a very long season. The boy’s volleyball team practices right after school daily for two and a half hours. In order to master this sport you need to be committed and ready to work hard for months.

Hartshorne has been playing volleyball for a while. He has been playing for about four years. Hartshorne’s thoughts on this season especially because of last year’s success, he responded “I think we can definitely make counties and possibly districts. States aren’t even out of the question.” Hartshorne seems to have a lot of confidence in his team, which is needed and greatly appreciated by others, and the team works together well as a unit.
So when Hartshorne was asked how well he thinks his team works together in games and practices, he said, “Well Volleyball is arguably the most team oriented sport so we have to work well together to win.” Even though this year’s boys’ volleyball team has a lot to live up to, the players are very excited and spirited to get out and do their best.
