Brady Pappas and Jackson Marshall, both seniors, have bright futures awaiting for them in an art career.

Pappas applied to several art schools, including Arcadia Art Program, Pennsylvania College of Art and Design, and Laguna Beach College of Art and Design. He has been accepted to all six of the colleges he has applied to.

Marshall plans on attending Temple University or Tyler School of Art. He has also applied to Slippery Rock University and East Stroudsburg University for baseball, but he does not wish to attend those two.

Both have taken the majority of the art classes offered at school, such as Drawing I and II, Painting I and II, Digital Design and Art Portfolio. Brady has also taken Art Appreciation, Art Portfolio and Photography.

Pappas hopes to attend the University of the Arts in the fall of 2015 and earn a degree in Interdisciplinary Fine Art. He said he would be studying painting/drawing, printmaking/book arts, sculpture, photography, film/video, animation, craft and material studies, and the flexibility needed to develop an individual studio practice.

On top of it all, he will be taking classes for theater, dance and music. Going to this college would also allow him to explore the city, take internships and live in a Philadelphia apartment.

Marshall, on the other hand, realizes that freshmen at Temple are undeclared, but he would like to get his BFA with a focus on either drawing or painting.

Pappas’ advice to other artists at school is to take at least one art class because it is a “great break throughout the day and allows you to be expressive and have a better appreciation of your peers and art as a whole.”

Pappas also said that he has “always been a strong believer in the arts” and believes they can can be just as beneficial as regular course classes.

Marshall also suggested students work at a large scale and take as many art classes as possible in the high school so you can be prepared for portfolio reviews. Both agree that the art classes have helped them to go further into the field of art.
