Consignment stores may not always be as big as other brand name stores; however, located in Kingston Square sits a consignment store unlike any other called Fashion Cents. Owner Linda Heindel said the small business is developing.

Fashion Cents originated about seven years ago when Linda bought it. “It has grown tremendously,” Heindel said. “I just signed a new lease to double my size, we are very well on the way to growing.”

The store will be moving to East Market Street where Getty’s pet shop used to be. The new space will allow business to expand and more products to be sold. “I will also be expanding into the new store with fashion furniture and also home decor,” she said. Heindel will also be looking for more help at the store and will be adding additional hours.

Heindel said some individuals who may feel finicky about shopping at consignment stores, or maybe some feel it is not cool to dress in used clothing. Heindel disagrees. “I love consignment stores,” said Heindel. “I am a thrifty shopper and I can find some great deals at consignment stores. Why pay full price at a store when you get maybe a third of the price at a consignment store?”

She said, “Fashion Cents offers a variety of clothes and accessories for everyone, and there are plenty of clothes with tags still on from brand named stores. The store carries apparel for women and teen boys and girls.”

She also said, “The clothes are not even the best part of Fashion Cents. When customers (consignors) consign their clothing and buy them, a portion of the money is put on a special account for the consignor to either pick up or use at the store for other clothing items. Additionally, there is always a daily deal at Fashion Cents.”

Heindel said, “We have deals every day. For instance, Monday would be fifteen percent off shirts, Tuesday would be fifteen percent off jeans, Wednesday would be fifteen percent off jewelry, Thursday would be fifteen percent off shoes and purses, and we always have a fifty percent off clearance room.”

Due to the colder season, winter apparel is flooding into the store. “Right now our biggest fashion is fleeced leggings, boot cuffs, and leg warmers,” said Heindel. Fashion Cents also has winter coats, hats, scarves and American Eagle sweaters sprinkled throughout the store.

From here, Fashion Cents is developing and will continue to expand in the future. Heindel continues to do advertising to keep promoting the store. Fashion Cents has a little bit for everyone and is a good spot for Christmas deal. “You can completely wardrobe yourself from the shirt to pants, from suit to coat, boots, purses, jewelry, you can accessorize yourself in anyway.”
