Is it wrong for Students to Kiss in the Hallways?

Here at York Suburban High School, kissing in the hallways happens on a regular basis. Some students do not see the problem but certain teachers do enforce the no PDA rule. Assistant principal Chris Adams had said, “I have heard teachers correct the behaviors. I periodically get an email or discipline referral for PDA.”

“I will occasionally see two people, but it is typically at the end of the day,” said Adams. Freshman Emily Strock said, “I really don’t care [if I see PDA]. It doesn’t affect me.”  Freshman Sammy Rodas said, “It does not really bother me. People can do what they want, but maybe try to do it less at school or in a public area, but I really don’t mind.” Freshman Alexis Bowen said, “It makes me uncomfortable.” A sophomore named Ariana Taitt said, “I think it is gross.”

Senior Sarah Cardone said, “It depends on where they kiss. If they are far away like in a corner, then it doesn’t bother me, but if its like right in the middle of the hallway, then it is gross.”

It seems that most students are not particularly bothered by PDA, while others may feel uncomfortable or grossed out by it. The few students who are kissing in the hallways should think about how other students would feel when they would be seen in the hallway kissing.
