Flappy bird fixation

Flappy Bird is taken down from all application stores by it’s creator Dong Nguyen.

Flappy Bird, an overnight phenomenon that took over the viral world in January, was suddenly taken down on Monday, Feb. 10.The app features a small yellow bird and requires players to navigate it through a maze of green pipes. Flappy Bird grossed $50,000 daily by selling advertising space to other games, websites, and businesses.

Creator Dong Nguyen recently said on Twitter that he would take down the game because he “cannot take this anymore.” Nguyen pulled the game down from the Android and Apple app stores on February 10th.

Freshman Zayin Samson said, “I think it’s kind of selfish, honestly. The game was created for other people’s entertainment and why would he want to take it down? He’s making a lot of money and his creation is a huge success.”

After asked what his stance was on the game, freshman Jadon Haynes said, “I really think the deleting of the app is out of hand. It’s kind of unfair because only the people who had the app before it was taken down can play the game. Personally, I think the creator may have taken it down for publicity. I don’t see any other reason he would.”

The reason behind the game shutdown is unknown. However, rumors have circulated that the creator deleted the games due to copyright issues and threatening emails. The game gained so much popularity that people with the app downloaded to their phone were trying to sell it on Ebay for exuberant amounts of money. Ebay then saw the items for sale and put it to an end saying that it was against their terms and conditions.
