Alan Countess and Sahara Wilt.
The Rotary Club of York honored Alan Countess and Sahara Wilt as the club’s Students of the Month for October. Both are Juniors at York Suburban High School.
Alan, the son of Frank and Rebecca Countess, is on the varsity tennis team. He also sings with the York Suburban Chorus, the YS Singers, and the All-Male Acapella Singers. In the top 10 prcent of his class, Alan enjoys juggling and archeological digs. He plans to study business, mathematics, or engineering in college.
Sahara, the daughter of Darrell and Jennifer Wilt, is in the top five percent of her class. At York Suburban she plays soccer, is in the orchestra, and is a member of the Green Club. Sahara enjoys reading, dancing, and horseback riding. She plans to go into the medical field after college.
Valley View Elementary School mascot Ready Teddy joins the dancing.
Students in kindergarten through second grades took part in the 2015 Dance-A-Thon at Valley View Elementary School.
While music played and videos appeared on a screen in the gymnasium, the students moved to the beat to raise fund for the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).
The day was divided into various grade levels taking their turn dancing.
Parents, siblings, and grandparents were invited to join in the dancing.

Maybe a Coach worked with your child this fall and he/she is having the best season because of the extra help? York Suburban Education Foundation Tribute Cards are a unique gift to honor a York Suburban School District staff person or community member. Tribute Cards can be given at any time throughout the year.

Funds raised from the Tribute Cards support the YSEF Endowment and are given back to the YSSD through grants for innovative programs. Ninety-six grants totaling $177,000 have been awarded to YSSD classrooms since 2008. Tribute Cards now can be ordered directly from the YSEF website, www.ysef.org.
Girls’ Volleyball Black Out game to benefit cancer victims.
The York Suburban Girls’ Volleyball team is having an active season.
In September the team placed second at the Dallastown Wildcat Invitational.
In October the York Suburban and Eastern York girls’ teams raised $3,174.75 at the 6th Annual Black Out game.
The money raised will assist three local families with cancer-related medical costs.
