Mid-Day Bus Runs Return in the Fall

Mid-day bus transportation for kindergarten students at Yorkshire Elementary School and Valley View Elementary School will return with the beginning of the 2014-15 school year in August.

That means both morning and afternoon kindergarten students will be transported to and from school.  Transportation to and from day care centers located within the York Suburban School District is included.

The cost to the district for the additional bus runs is $28,000, according to Corinne Mason, Director of Finance for the district.

The change is a way for the York Suburban School District to reinforce for parents the importance of early childhood education, kindergarten enrollment and daily attendance.

Information on bus stops and times will be sent to parents in early August.

Post Prom has a Las Vegas Theme

Angie Deroche and Christine Kates are at the Post Prom preview.

Angie Deroche and Christine Kates are at the Post Prom preview.

It was a lucky night for the 260 students and guests who attended the annual York Suburban Post Prom party at the high school on Saturday evening and Sunday morning, May 17-18.

The Las Vegas theme was carried out through the cafeteria and the front lobby.  In the gymnasium, a large inflatable slide, bounce house, and jousting game were the main attractions.

The alcohol and substance-free event has become a traditional safe alternative to after prom parties at York Suburban.  After entering the school, the chaperoned students may not leave until the next morning.

The co-chairs this year were Christine Kates and Angie Deroche.  They coordinated almost 50 volunteers and dozens of donors to make the evening a success.

A preview of the setting was held for family, friends, and donors.
