Poetry Gets Slammed at Indian Rock Elementary

Submitted by Stephanie Crumbling

Thursday, May 11 marked the third annual Crumbling and Guyer Poetry Slam at Indian Rock. After creating a Poetry Portfolio, the fifth graders selected several poems to share in an “open mic” forum. Then, dressed in beatnik black honoring the hipster generation, the students unveiled their thoughts, feelings, and aspirations to their loved ones in attendance at the Slam. As in previous years, it marked an acknowledgement of the power of words through a celebration of poetic forms. We are proud of our poets!
