Yorkshire Elementary Students Walk Tall in Famous Shoes

Submitted by Kathy Pavoncello

Our second grade Yorkshire Elementary students put forth a lot of effort recently, learning about famous people, both past and present. Each child chose a famous person he or she admires to research. They learned about their home lives, the rise to fame, how they became famous, and notable causes.  Each student wrote a graded essay using the facts from their research. Finally, using props, computer graphics and hand-crafted posters, the students stepped into character and shared their stories with parents, teachers, and each other. In this way, each class became a talking, virtual wax museum.
