YSHS Students Excel at Science Olympiad

Submitted by Erika Styer and Brian Ellis

Fresh off the heals of an outstanding performance at the county science fair, York Suburban High School students took home a number of honors at the annual Science Olympiad.  Twenty-one York Suburban students participated on Saturday, March 25.  Students worked in teams to compete in STEM events against more than twenty other high schools in the region.  The teams medaled in five events and seven of our students took home medals. It was a wonderful day for YS and a wonderful day for science!

The winners were:

Elizabeth Huh & Augustine Huh – 2nd place in “Towers” event

Maya Lehman & Liv Pindzola – 2nd place in “Dynamic Planet” event

Elizabeth Huh & Maya Lehman – 3rd place in “Ecology” event

Charlotte Nesbitt & Maya Lehman – 3rd Place in “Chemistry Lab” event

Zoe Hornberger & Zoe Prats – 4th place in “Disease Detectives” event

A special thanks also goes out to YSHS Biology teacher, Leslie Gentzyel, for her hard work in coaching, organizing and getting the students prepared for the olympiad!
