York Suburban Education Foundation (YSEF) recently received generous contributions from two local corporations that participate in the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. The students from East York Elementary sent a big shout out to Weis Markets for their $1,500 contribution. Second grade students at Valley View Elementary were excited to greet Rutter’s Farm Stores employees with high fives and big smiles.  Pictured with the students are Sarah Reinecker, YSEF President, Ben Shaffer (L), Rutter’s Sales Representative and Rick Miller (R), Rutter’s Sales and Marketing Director.   An example of a YSEF grant funded with EITC corporate contributions is the York Suburban School District’s summer camp enrichment program Fizz, Boom, Read. This grant aims to reinforce reading, writing, math and science skills during the summer months for rising first-fifth grade students through teacher led activities. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) concepts are incorporated to guide student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
