Girls Basketball Program Honored for Sportsmanship

Submitted by Matt Marshall, Athletic Director

CONGRATULATIONS, to our girls basketball program! The program was selected to receive the Gretchen Wolf Swartz Sportsmanship Award. Each year, one girls and one boys program are chosen to receive the prestigious award that includes $50,000.00 in scholarships.

The award is voted on by league officials with a focus on sportsmanship and doing things the right way. League officials look at an ENTIRE program and district in general. Junior high, varsity players, coaches, event help, scorekeepers, staff, parents, and fans are all evaluated. The girls team will be recognized at a banquet in April at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and presented with a trophy. Senior members of our team are also now able to apply for scholarships that total $50,000.00. Four scholarships in the amounts of $20,000, $15,000, $10,000 and $5,000 are available.

York Suburban would like to thank our coaches, who do a phenomenal job of creating a culture and environment of which we are proud. We are fortunate to have great fans, staff, and event help that continually support the program and provide great role models for our student-athletes.

We are extremely fortunate to have many phenomenal student-athletes at York Suburban. It is fantastic to see a few of you now have an opportunity to apply for such tremendous scholarships. Thank you, girls, for continually conducting yourselves in a positive and respectful manner, exemplifying the values we strive for at York Suburban. #YSPROUD!
