New Course Offerings at the High School

Submitted by Dr. Brian Ellis

High school students will soon be thinking about their course selections for next school year and they will have some new options to choose from in 2018-19. The school board recently approved the following additions to the high school program: Advanced Placement(AP) World History, Accounting III, Baking for Business, Anatomy & Physiology II, and Honors Algebra I. Each of these courses will provide the students with the opportunity for more advanced study in areas of their interest. AP World History will be replacing our traditional tenth grade honors Global Studies course so that students have an opportunity to pursue college credit. Accounting III will serve a growing base of students showing interest in accounting or pursuing business as a future career. Baking for Business will serve our students who show an interest in entrepreneurial food service careers Anatomy & Physiology II will provide another option for our many students interested in pursuing medical and/or physical therapy careers. Honors Algebra I will provide a more rigorous option for our talented math students who seek a challenge during their freshman year.
