Yorkshire Elementary Celebrates Winter Spirit Week

Submitted by Kathy Pavoncello

Prior to the winter break, Yorkshire celebrated the winter season with a Winter Spirit Week. On Grinch Day, students dressed as the Grinch, wore green, and dressed as their favorite characters from the story, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. They celebrated Lumberjack Day by fabricating beards and wearing vests, hats, and boots. Plaid fabrics were everywhere in the halls of Yorkshire! Winter Wonderland Day found our classrooms full of sparkly shades of white and blue, and lots of hats, scarves and mittens. Santa’s Workshop Day encouraged students and staff to dress like Santa, Mrs. Claus, reindeer, snowmen, presents, or anything else found in Santa’s workshop. The week rounded out with Polar Express Day, for which students could wear their favorite pajamas to school! Kindergarten students were treated to popcorn and the movie The Polar Express.
