New Ice Cold Drink at YSHS

Slushies are one of the favorite treats in the YSHS cafeteria. Ever since the machines have been put in, students line up to get the sugary treat. Although most slushies are considered unhealthy, they are still considered a fruit at YSHS. 

Even though slushies are unhealthy, and they lack certain nutritional value. In the FD meal planner of the website, unhealthy foods such as brownies, cookies, and muffins are not included.

Freshman Matt Torres, “Yes and no. Slushie machines can be a good thing because they help the school make more money off student lunches, but it can be a bad thing because slushies are considered unhealthy.

Torres stated, “The students should not have limitations on the amount of slushies they have because if they have the money to buy it, they can do what they want.”

 Freshman Reid Kern stated, “Slushies can be good for students to have because if they are having a bad day they can have a period of time to enjoy their slushies.” He also said, “Schools can make more money off the slushies.” Kern said that students should have no limit on the amount of slushies they have over a period of time because it is their choice on what they want to consume.”

Freshman Keaoni Bair said,YSHS benefit from having slushies because they can make more money.” 

Bair also said that the school should add cherry and lime flavored slushies.” She then stated that if students have the money to pay for slushies they should be allowed to buy them.

Freshman Alexander Heisy said, “Slushie machines are an opportunity for the school to make money.”

Heisy suggested that the school should add a root beer flavor to the variety of slush flavors.

Freshman  Harry Perkins said that “students should definitely not have any limitations on the slushies they have because if they have the money to buy one they should be allowed to buy what they want”

Slushies mostly have a positive impact on students and the Freshman seem to have high hopes on the newest treat in YSHS.
