The Winter to come is arriving with a blistering chill

Many people and reporters are already saying that this upcoming winter is going to be a cold and rough. Now, while winter may be a fun with snow in the forecast, and holidays just around the corner, the snow and cold cause problems for many people.

Pennsylvania is testing a new traffic plan this winter to try and help restrict the amount of vehicles on the road, depending on how severe the weather is. It is a five-tiered plan that is geared toward relieving the burden on truck drivers.

The first tier only restricts certain cars and trucks while the fifth tier restricts all vehicles on the road except for emergency vehicles. When interviewed by magazine company Overdrive, president of Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, Kevin Stewart, said, “This is better than last year.”

Last winter may have been bad, but not as bad as this one is supposed to be. According to The Weather Channel, the northern and eastern sides of the United States will be “shivering”, while the south is expected to be much warmer.

Temperatures are expected to be below average for the east coast. For the most part in Pennsylvania, the weather is normally cold in the winter. In York Pennsylvania, the temperatures from December to February average from around forty-six at high to twenty-three degrees at lowest.

According to The Old Farmers Almanac, precipitation is going to be above normal, but there is going to be less snow. There have been numerous reports of snow coming, which can only lead some to assume there will be some quite early this year. Also, the temperature has been fairly low for fall going down all the way to being in the twenties.

York Suburban does not have any built-in snow days this year and any days that are missed will run into the summer. So, if the weather is cold enough or there is enough snow on the ground, school will get called off, which some look at as a positive.

Sophomore Dominic Ballard is one of the people who are ready for winter and everything that comes along with it; “yes and I plan on hanging out with family during Christmas and getting ready for track during preseason” Ballard said. He is also one of the few people who prefer cold temperatures.

Sophomore Jalani Hopkins is also another one who prefers the cold as Hopkins said, “ I love the cold, but would not prefer it over summer.” Hopkins is happy about there being no-built in snow days because he likes school. Whether or not cold weather and snow are disliked, it does not change the fact that this will be a harsh winter.
