Triggs to retire

by Michaela Trotter

Tom Triggs is a retiring government teacher/ basketball coach who prides himself on teaching students how to survive in the real world. He has been at York Suburban High School for 26 years. Triggs has put his time and effort into making sure the next generation can thrive in the economy.

Triggs said, “I mean seeing hundreds of kids a year you form different relationships and friendships, will miss the interactions with students the most.”

Being at a place of work for the amount of time that Triggs has you are bound to make some sort of an impact. “My biggest impact in my opinion is the relationships with the students and what they are learning in the class.”

Triggs has coached the boys basketball team at York Suburban for 13 years. “I’d have to say my favorite year was the 2008-2009 because the boys basketball team won the championship that year and it was fun.”

Being in a place of work for 26 years you make friends. Nathan Hoover a teacher who splits the curriculum with Triggs said, “I will miss his sense of humor, and his face when he disagrees with something that you say. I will also miss the way he picks on you in a sarcastic kind of way.”

History teacher Tom Guerin said, “Triggs used to mentor me before we came to York Suburban. I’ve never taught without him, and I don’t know what i’ll do with myself.”

Students that have had Triggs know that he is a cool teacher, very laid back and down to earth. We will all miss Triggs and we wish him the best in this new chapter of his life.
