The Future Generation will become More than we Expected

by Katie Garcia-Alcala

With the graduating class of 2018 moving on with their lives and starting their new beginnings, I can’t help but to look back and think about our time as kindergarteners. With time that seemed to escape us, the children to come will create wonderful and fantastic things in the days to come.

After visiting Valley View Elementary school and talking with some of the kindergarteners there, I had the opportunity to ask Mrs. Tyson’s class a few questions. Where most of the kids were unsure of what they were most looking forward to and had no idea what to expect when they got to high school, there was a select few that knew exactly what to expect when they took the next step.

The very first person who I spoke to was Julian. He was energetic, knowledgeable, and sweet as one can be. He knew that the moment he got to high school, he would join the basketball team and become number one. Victoria who was bright, ambitious, intelligent and articulate, knew that she was going to be an engineer, an artist, and a mathematician. She was most looking forward to making new friends and going to art class. Last but not least, there was kind Simon. He knew exactly what he would be doing once he got to high school. His dream? To build the first portal to transport him from one place to the other.

Although their entry into high school seems so far away, they will be gracing the halls of York Suburban High School before they know it. Their four years in school will be gone and they will be the ones in caps and gowns, receiving their diploma. What is true without a doubt is that what they will accomplish in their lives later on, will be fantastic.
