Deadly flu is not over yet

The biggest health concern that is threatening our winter season is influenza. Influenza has always been a threat to people, but never this bad. Researchers are calling it “the deadly flu.” The World Health Organization claims that globally, 3 out of 5 million cases of severe illnesses have been linked to the flu.

Out of all of the counties in the Susquehanna Valley, York County had the most cases. Pennsylvania has been hit hard with this virus with a total of ninety-one deaths that  counted.

This is a large concern for many hospitals across the country who have decided to even add on temporary units to hold patients who have been infected. This will prevent other hospital patients from being infected by the virus.

According to NBC News, doctors are going to begin giving the nasal mist next season. They believe this will be a more effective way to fight the deadly virus. As claimed by NBC News, a total of thirty-seven children’s lives have been claimed, overwhelming last year’s total by a landslide.

Just because a person does not have a fever does not mean he does not have the flu. This is what causes the most concern. The main target of this virus is young children and elder adults.

Senior Emily Strock was worried the entire time she was ill. She said, “I had the flu this year, but it only affected me for like a week.”

Alexis Boulding and Briaunna Embrey-Banks said they were not affected by the flu this year and they are very thankful. Many can relate to what these two stated. Even though the flu season has peaked, it is still not done yet.

This “deadly flu” is showing no mercy on each of the patients it affects. The “deadly flu” has been circulating rapidly and it is one of the worst cases yet.
