Students see Wicked on Broadway

On Wednesday, March 29 English teachers Marcella Oathout and Kelly Paraskevakos took their senior classes along with a few of their junior classes up to the city that never sleeps to see the magic of Broadway live.

They journeyed four long hours before they reached their destination to see Wicked, and it was well worth the wait. Senior Megan Farrell said, “It was a great trip. I’m so happy I was able to go see it.”

Farrell also said, “I’ve never been to New York before and I am so grateful I was able to visit New York and see such an amazing show.” The show was three hours of pure amazement. The show is a prequel of The Wizard of Oz showing how the Wicked Witch of the West truly became Wicked.

“The good witch, Glinda, played by Kara Lindsay, really stood out amongst her co stars” said senior Mary Sigley. “Her role was of a blonde, ditzy girl who is a people pleaser. She did a great job taking that role into her own hands.”

The show explores the origins of the Cowardly Lion, Heartless Tinman, and Brainless Scarecrow all within the Wonderful World of Oz. It was an amazing show and a fantastic experience; the classes all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the English department plans to take more trips to New York in the future.
