Autism walk

As part of the Autism Expo, an event put on by Autism York, Best Buddies participated in the Autism Walk. The walk took place on April 11 at Central York High School.

Adviser Neil Gutekunst said, “Autism is a condition that can make social interactions and friendships difficult, and that is what Best Buddies is about.” They wanted to support any organization or event whose mission is similar to Best Buddies, so they took part in the walk. Jennifer Martin, a learning support teacher, attended the walk.

This was not a big event for the Best Buddies, but it was very successful. Gutekunst said, “We raised over $100 this year, and we are hoping for much more in the future.” Though it is their first year participating in this event, they will definitely be participating in the walk for years to come.

There were a few people who donated. Best Buddies hopes that in the future, they can make this event much bigger and raise much more to the years that come. Hopefully they can raise more money than what they have and make it even better and bigger in the future.
