Achievement in Art Award (Best All-Around Artist) – Award given to a student with outstanding achievements in the fields of drawing and painting, ceramic art, and photography.

Allison E. Guyer Memorial Scholarship – Scholarship awards in memory of Allison E. Guyer, a member of the Class of 1996. The recipient of this award must be a female member in good standing of the National Art Honor Society. She must be accepted at a two or four year institution with plans of pursuing an art major or related field. She must have achieved a minimum of two varsity letters and be a member of a varsity team during her senior year.

Laura Huber Memorial Scholarship – A $250 scholarship award in memory of Laura Huber, a former Physical Education teacher at York Suburban. The recipient of this award must have declared a major in education or a health-related field. The recipient must have been dedicated to one sport for at least two consecutive years at York Suburban High School. He or she must demonstrate good citizenship and a strong work ethic.

Kathryn S. Shue Memorial Scholarship – A $2,000 scholarship award presented to a senior student who has declared Elementary Education as a college major. The student must have a
3.2 or better average through seven semesters or be nominated by a teacher. The scholarship is in memory of Kathryn S. Shue, a dedicated York school teacher.

Her Traditions Scholarship, sponsored by York Traditions Bank – Each year since 2011, York Traditions Bank has awarded scholarships to high school seniors from York County school districts who exhibit “superior leadership skills, admirable academic achievement and promising potential to become future women leaders of our community.” The Her Traditions Scholarship Program was created to develop the leadership potential of women who will ultimately serve as role models for future generations of youth in the County.

Courtney McMillion Scholarship, sponsored by the Indian Rock PTO – The Indian Rock Elementary School PTO established a scholarship award to be presented to a graduating senior who attended Indian Rock Elementary School and has been accepted to an institution of higher learning. The recipient must have experience in service to children and be in good scholastic standing. The winner will receive a $500 check and a plaque. A plaque will also be hung at Indian Rock in memory of Courtney.

Deborah Lynn (Topper) Kuntz Memorial Scholarship – A $500 award established in memory of Deb Kuntz, who served the district for 39 years as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. Presented to a college-bound individual displaying extra-curricular involvement, financial need, and the characteristics Deb lived her life by: courage, hope, faith, and love.

Roger J. Marquis, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – This $300 award was established in memory of Roger Marquis, who passed away in 2015 from cancer. Roger was a Suburban parent who volunteered his time coaching youth basketball (boys and girls) and baseball in the community. This award seeks to recognize a college-bound senior who played baseball or basketball (girls or boys) during their junior and seniors years of high school. The recipient should demonstrate the traits by which Roger lived his life and the philosophies he tried to impart while coaching: team spirit, respect for the game, respect for yourself and your teammates, friendliness, dedication, hard work, and youth mentoring.

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) – The Colonel James Smith-Yorktown Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution presents the DAR Good Citizens Award to honor area high school seniors selected by their school who have demonstrated, to a remarkable degree, the qualities of a good citizen. These qualities include dependability, service to the community, leadership, and patriotism.

Future Leaders of York – This organization offers selected high school sophomores and juniors to become life-long, responsible participants in their community through a six month program from November through April. Through interaction and problem solving with peer and community leaders, students: learn about York County government, business, human services, and cultural arts; meet students from other York County Schools; develop leadership skills; have opportunities to meet with and discuss issues with community leaders. The students develop an understanding of philanthropic skills through community service and a grant making project.

York Builders Association Scholarship – The York Builders Association Scholarship Program is open to the children and grandchildren of our member companies and their employees. Eligible candidates must submit an application, school transcripts, three adults references and answer three essay questions. They are then reviewed by a group of members and awarded based on the score received. Scholarships are offered to individuals planning to continue their education through post-secondary education. The association was chartered in 1964 as a non-profit association of builders and related trades, organized to promote home ownership for the citizens of York County and the improvement of the building industry.
