Bio Bootcamp

Submitted by Dr. Brian Ellis

In early May, the members of the freshman class displayed their dedication to academics via what has become a YSHS rite of passage: “Bio Bootcamp”.   As the students approach the days of the Keystone state assessment in Biology, teachers Leslie Gentyzel, Erika Styer, Dev Idgunji, and Cathy Braun lead five days of after-school voluntary sessions to methodically review all the material the students learned throughout the year.  These sessions always fill Room 160 and often students are seated in the aisles!  Bootcamp attendance averages more than 150 students out of the approximately 200 students who will take the test. Over ninety percent of the dedicated students participate in at least one day of the camp.
