Every year, school districts across the country mark the 100th  Day of School with unique celebrations, and Yorkshire Elementary School is no exception. On Tuesday, January 24, our hallways were filled with elderly staff and students sporting gray hair, canes, knee socks, bifocals and bathrobes. Highly creative students imagined themselves as centenarians for a day. Each classroom devised its own celebration to mark the occasion, and cake was generously donated by Dawn Food Products, Inc. in York.  PTO members distributed a piece to every student, as well as carnations to staff members. Another 100th Day activity centered around the concept of giving to others. Students were asked the following question, “If I had $100, I would donate it to ___________.” The answers were quite impressive, ranging from being funny to rather humbling. Overall, the honest reflection that went into most of the answers was enough to make the community proud. Our Yorkshire students are very thoughtful and generous!
