Winter Sports Preview

After concluding a fantastic fall sports season, our York Suburban athletic teams are looking forward to a positive and successful winter season. Numbers are great at all of our middle school and high school programs, and we wish the best of luck to our athletes and coaches this season!

HS Wrestling (Varsity): Coach Brian Gentzyel’s team started off the season witwinterprev1h contributions from all members that wrestled at the Susquehanna Township tournament. With each member of the team receiving a win at the tournament. 

First home match is December 22  – we look forward to a great turn-out!

JH Wrestling: Coach Mike Mountz’s team started out of the gates extremely well finishing second out of 16 Teams at a very strong Cocalico Tournament; 11 out of the 15 team entries took home medals at the contest.  Our wrestlers show a lot of promise, so follow along for what we hope to be a very successful season!

winterprev2 Boys Basketball: We are excited to have head coach Thomas Triggs back at the varsity level. He leads a strong group of returning YS athletes who show great potential.

Upcoming home games on December 13, 17, and 23.

Girls Basketball: Coming off of a very successful 2015-2016 season, our girls look to continue that success in the 2016-2017. Coach Jessica Barley brings back a talented group of girls lead by three returning starters. Our varsity and junior varsity teams both started off with wins over Gettysburg . Please come out and support the team throughout the year. 

First home game is December 16

Junior High Boys Basketball : Both our 9th and 7th/8th Grade teams look to be in for a very successful season after strong showings in their first game with wins over a tough opponent in Dallastown. Coach Jamie McFadden returns to lead our 7th/8th Grade Team while Coach Corey Neiderer steps in for his first year as our freshman coach. 7th/8th grade games will be played at 4:15pm and 9th grade at 5:15pm at the middle school.

Junior High Girls Basketball: Coaches Amy Scerbo and Darren Kurilla return to lead our programs. The team looks forward to a great attendance at York Suburban home games as we move through the season.  7th/8th grade games will be played at 4:15pm and 9th at 5:15pm at the middle school.

Girls/ Boys Swimming: All members of York Suburban’s fantastic coaching staff return lead by Coach Craig Brennan to continue the tradition of great success for 2016-2017 season. Both the girls and boys teams got off to a fast start with wins over Northern York. While a huge victory for both teams, the girls celebrated defeating the defending District Champions.winterprev3
