family-involvement

This month, Preschool, K Prep, Kindergarten Enrichment, and School Age are traveling with fictional character, “Globe Trot Scott,” learning about holidays around the world. Each day, we open a package containing a letter, activities, and a book to read about the country he visited and the holiday traditions.  We also talk about our family traditions. We invite families to share with their child’s class how they celebrate the holidays. The activities selected are based on the early learning standards and interests of each age group. We incorporate Social Studies, Cooking, Reading, Writing, Math, Fine Motor, and Gross Motor Skills into our unit of study.

Our unit of study will conclude with a Holidays Around the World family night. The families are invited to return to school in the evening for a glimpse of what the children have learned about other cultures. We also bring treats to share and show a favorite holiday movie in our country- “The Polar Express!”
