Cookies, Crafts, and Cards… Oh, Joy!

Submitted by Kathy Pavoncello

Each year, our wonderful Yorkshire Elementary PTO sponsors a fun-filled night of cookie decorating in our cafeteria. Thanks to the donations of Yorkshire families, as well as those of local retailers, children were able to express their creativity by decorating a cookie any way their hearts desired. When asked about his favorite part of the cookie decoration process, kindergartner Grant Terwilliger replied confidently, “The icing!”

Holiday music set the mood for the event, encouraging production of carefully crafted snowflakes that now adorn our cafeteria windows, welcoming in the winter season. This year, students also shared their sense of community by creating unique holiday cards for residents at a local senior residence. Glitter, stickers, crayons and glue covered the tables as little hands got busy creating holiday cheer. The students wondered how the senior residents would receive the special messages. Kindergarten student Aubrey Gurreri said, “I think they’re going to like them a lot!”

We think they will, too!
