York College Students Visit Kindergarten

Submitted by Dr. Tawn Ketterman

Valley View Elementary  kindergarten classes had some very special visitors in September who came bearing gifts!  The York College German Club students, along with Phi Sigma Pi Honor Society, came to our classes to share a German tradition.  On the first day of school in Germany, all students receive the gift of a schultuete.  A schultuete is a large paper cone filled with school supplies and treats. The college students worked over the summer to receive donations and acquire materials.  The college students taught our kindergarten children how to say please, thank you, you’re welcome, and goodbye  in German!

A special thanks to York Suburban parent and York College professor Mary Boldt for organizing the event and to Utz and Wolfgang Candies for their generous donations!
